Xiaomi’s October Launch: Flagship Phones, Tablet, and New OS

Xiaomi hosted one of its key domestic launch events today, officially unveiling the Xiaomi 15 Series, Xiaomi Pad 7, and Xiaomi HyperOS 2 in Mainland China.

The Xiaomi 15 series is powered by the newly announced Snapdragon® 8 Elite Mobile Platform, which features an advanced second-generation 3nm process and a PC-level dual-core architecture, including two second-generation Oryon super cores. This architecture, sharing the same foundation as Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon X Elite, offers the most significant performance leap in a decade, with CPU performance boosted by 42% and GPU performance by 44%. The NPU seamlessly integrates with Xiaomi’s HyperAI subsystem, delivering up to 80 TOPS of comprehensive computing power for advanced on-device AI functions.

Xiaomi 15 Pro: A Leader in Smartphone Photography

The Xiaomi 15 Pro is designed to provide an exceptional in-hand feel, featuring a slightly curved display, an aluminum frame, and a seamless camera design with unified ceramic accents. Available in Gray, White, and Green, it also offers a unique Liquid Silver Edition.

Boasting a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and Xiaomi’s self-developed HyperCore system kernel, the Xiaomi 15 Pro achieves peak performance alongside a substantial 6100mAh battery capacity. The upgraded cooling system features a 14% larger cooling area for efficient temperature management, and the battery capacity has increased by 1220mAh compared to its predecessor, while reducing the device’s weight by approximately 10g.

Equipped with a Leica Summilux optical system, the Xiaomi 15 Pro includes three large-aperture lenses with focal lengths from 14mm to 120mm, enabling versatile photography for both portraits and landscapes. The main camera features an impressive ƒ/1.44 aperture for enhanced light intake and faster shutter speeds, creating beautiful background blur effects. The telephoto lens offers a 120mm effective focal length, achieving 10x lossless zoom with high-pixel readout mode, extending to a focal range of 240mm.

On the software side, the Xiaomi AISP 2.0 computational photography platform incorporates multiple algorithms to produce UltraRAW digital negatives and enables 20x UltraZoom capabilities, while an advanced AI imaging model enhances the photo, video, and post-production workflow.

Xiaomi 15: The Compact Flagship

Continuing the classic design language, the Xiaomi 15 features a refined quad-curve middle frame and balanced 50:50 weight distribution for a premium feel. It is available in Black, White, Green, and Purple, with a special Liquid Silver Edition that showcases a unique ripple effect on the rear glass panel.

The Xiaomi 15 packs a powerful 5400mAh battery, defying expectations for compact devices, and boasts a 90W HyperCharge and 50W wireless charging capabilities. Its 6.36-inch display, with an ultra-narrow 1.38mm bezel, utilizes innovative LIPO technology for a stunning visual experience, reaching brightness levels of up to 3200 nits while supporting a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz.

Featuring three Leica ultra-high-speed lenses, the Xiaomi 15 also offers a highly capable telephoto lens with an extensive focus range, enabling exceptional portrait and close-up photography. The upgraded Xiaomi AISP 2.0 platform processes up to 4.3 billion pixels per second, enhancing the shooting experience.

Additionally, Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 15 Custom Edition, which allows for customizable frame and color combinations, and the Xiaomi 15 Limited Edition, featuring an eco-cultivated diamond inlay and a premium nano-tech vegan leather back.
