A few months back, Ice Universe revealed that the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature a 200MP telephoto camera. Recently, additional details have emerged from Weibo tipsters, indicating that this camera will be exclusive to the Ultra model; the standard and Pro versions will be limited to 50MP 3x cameras.
The Ultra’s telephoto camera will include a 100mm lens, offering approximately 4.3x magnification, and will have an f/2.6 aperture. In comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra was equipped with a 50MP 120mm periscope lens (5x) and an f/2.5 aperture. Notably, the Ultra is expected to feature two telephoto cameras: the impressive 200MP module and the same 50MP 3x camera found in the other two models in the Xiaomi 15 series. All three versions will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (or 8 Elite, depending on its final name), which will enhance image processing through improved ISP and NPU capabilities.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is anticipated to launch at a separate event from the other Xiaomi 15 models, similar to the strategy used for the 14-series. However, this time, the gap will be shorter, with the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro expected to debut later this month and the 15 Ultra set to be unveiled in January, rather than February.
