Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 Confirmed for August 14 Launch in China, Design Revealed with Leica Quad-Camera System
Xiaomi’s eagerly awaited Mix Fold 3 is set to debut on August 14 in China, marking the third entry in the brand’s foldable phone lineup. As the successor to both Mix Fold 2 and Mi Mix Fold, the Mix Fold 3 boasts an innovative Leica-branded quad-camera arrangement at its rear, complemented by slightly curved corners for an elegant touch. The phone enters the competitive foldable market, where it will rival devices such as Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Honor Magic V Fold, and Pixel Fold.
Founder and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, has officially announced that the unveiling event will commence at 7:00 pm local time (4:30 pm IST) on August 14, offering insights into the company’s business trajectory through his annual speech. The event’s tagline, “defining a new standard for the second half of folding screen” (translated from Chinese), underlines Xiaomi’s commitment to innovation.
Prior to the launch, Xiaomi provided a comprehensive preview of the Mix Fold 3’s design on the Chinese microblogging platform, Weibo. The revealed images showcase the device’s elegant black and cream color options, along with its slender profile and slightly curved corners, presented in both folded and unfolded configurations.
Compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 exhibits a significant evolution in its camera setup. The square-shaped camera module accommodates the Leica-branded quad-camera system, accompanied by an LED flash. In contrast, the earlier version featured a triple rear camera unit.
Anticipated specifications point to an 8.02-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) inner display and a 6.5-inch cover panel, both with a potential refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Under the hood, the device is likely to run on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, complemented by up to 16GB of LPDDDR5x RAM and a maximum of 1TB UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage. Powering these features could be a 4,800mAh battery, offering either 50W or 67W wired fast charging support.
Xiaomi’s announcement arrives shortly after Samsung’s unveiling of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, fueling expectations of increased competition in the foldable market. If Mix Fold 3 expands its availability beyond China, it could contribute to a dynamic shift in the industry.
