Huawei P50 Pocket Smartphone comes with a gapless folding screen and SD888 chipset.
After three generations of the Mate X foldable series, Huawei finally unveiled its first clamshell-foldable phone, that of the Huawei P50 Pocket. It features the Huawei patent-pending multi-dimensional hinge with no visible gaps when it is closed. P50 Pocket continues the design style of P50, the Huawei P50 series, and uses an exclusive 3D-structured glass design.
It has a 6.9-inch 120 Hz OLED main display with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a 2790 x 1188 pixel resolution. Huawei has opted for a punch-hole cutout on top of the screen, which houses the camera for selfies.
The cover screen, which measures just 1 inch, is able to do more than display the date, time and send notifications. It comes with its own widgets for service that work with apps that are first- and third-party like music players, maps, and QR codes. The user can begin navigating the large screen, then shut off the phone and follow the directions on the cover screen.
P50 Pocket includes three cameras, a 40MP main camera with an equivalent lens of 26mm, a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera, and a 32MP f/1.8 ultra spectrum camera that can boost the color rendering.
It has the Snapdragon 888 4G processor at its helm, aided by 8/12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage. The software is protected by HarmonyOS and the battery comes with a capacity of 4,000mAh and supports wired charging 40W. The foldable measure 7.2mm when folded, 15.2mm when folded and weighs 190g.
Huawei P50 Pocket comes in black and white shades along with exclusive gold trim. The regular P50 Pocket is available in an 8/256GB trim that costs CNY 8,988, equivalent to $1,410. The gold version, which is a special edition, that comes with 12/512GB is CNY 10988 ($1,725). The first sales in China begin today. The availability for international sales was not disclosed at this point, but we received confirmation from an official from Huawei official that it’s going to be available.
