Bangladesh’s telecom regulator BTRC has withdrawn the ban on the sale of Grameenphone SIM cards. This means that Grameenphone will be able to sell SIMs from next Tuesday. Several responsible officials from the Post and Telecommunication Department, BTRC, and Grameenphone have confirmed this news according to Techshahr.
The ban on the sale of Grameenphone SIM cards was first imposed by BTRC on June 29th of last year. Since then, Grameenphone was allowed to sell 13 lakh recycling SIMs, but later the ban was reimposed. Grameenphone was then permitted to sell 78 thousand of SIMs in public and private offices but was banned from selling in the Bangladesh market.
Grameenphone has fulfilled all the conditions set by the regulator to ensure quality service. As a result, the ban on the sale of SIM cards has been withdrawn. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said in an interview with Techshahr.com that Grameenphone has improved and customers are now saying that Grameenphone is a good operator.
This is good news for both Grameenphone and the customers who will now have access to its services. Grameenphone can now sell SIM cards in the Bangladesh market, which will increase its reach and customer base. The lifting of the ban also shows the government’s trust in Grameenphone and its ability to provide quality service.
In conclusion, the lifting of the ban on the sale of Grameenphone SIM cards is a positive development for the telecom industry in Bangladesh. It will help Grameenphone reach more customers and provide better services, while also ensuring the efficient utilization of national resources and saving energy.
